ECTRIMS 2023 | The need for evolving MS clinical course descriptors

Timothy Coetzee, PhD, National MS Society, New York, NY, discusses the survey conducted by the International Advisory Committee on Clinical Trials in Multiple Sclerosis (MS), which aimed to assess the perspective of the scientific and clinical community on the need for updating the clinical course descriptors for MS. The survey revealed that 77% of the participants agreed that change was necessary but emphasized that new descriptors should be clinically validated, inform patient care and treatment decisions, and be easily communicated to patients. The ultimate goal is to refine the clinical course descriptors in order to facilitate improved understanding and treatment of MS for healthcare professionals and patients alike. This interview took place at the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS) Congress 2023 in Milan, Italy.
