ECTRIMS 2023 | Incorporating the patient perspective in MS management

Timothy Coetzee, PhD, National MS Society, New York, NY, discusses the importance of the patient perspective in identifying the progression of multiple sclerosis (MS). Individuals who live with MS have a unique insight into their own bodies on a day-to-day basis, which can often go unnoticed during infrequent physician visits. Dr Coetzee highlights the need to incorporate real-time information and insights from patients to better understand the fluctuations of the disease that may occur between medical appointments. This approach can provide a more comprehensive view of the progression of MS and help healthcare professionals devise more targeted treatment plans. This interview took place at the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS) Congress 2023 in Milan, Italy.
