WCN 2023 | Patient advocacy groups for cluster headache

Elizabeth Leroux, MD, FRCP, University of Calgary, Canada, highlights the crucial need for advocacy for patients with cluster headache and other trigeminal cephalalgias (TACs). Cluster headache is a rare and debilitating condition that causes extreme suffering and isolation. Patient associations offering peer-to-peer support are key, especially considering the heightened risk of suicide among affected individuals. Establishing supportive structures that encourage patients to vocalize their struggles and seek assistance is imperative in combating the isolation and stigma associated with these conditions. This interview took place at the World Congress of Neurology (WCN) 2023 in Montreal, Canada.
