AHS 2024 | POTS, hEDS, and migraine: shedding light on the connections

Nada Hindiyeh, MD, Metrodora Institute, West Valley City, UT discusses the need for increased research on the link between migraine and common comorbid autonomic symptoms and disorders. Numerous studies indicate a significant overlap and shared pathophysiology in migraine, dysautonomia, hypermobility spectrum disorders (HSD), and mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS). Dr Hindiyeh hopes to assess headache profiles and comorbidities in all patients undergoing autonomic testing at her institution, to identify underlying connections between the conditions. Whole genome sequencing is being conducted for some patients, potentially leading to new discoveries in the future. This interview took place at the American Headache Society (AHS) Annual Meeting 2024 in San Diego, CA.
