AAN 2024 | Recent advancements in investigational products for ALS

Jinsy Andrews, MD, FAAN, from Columbia University, New York, NY, discusses recent advances in investigational products for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and highlights the unmet need for neuroprotection in ALS due to the rapid nature of the disease progression. Several products currently being evaluated target neuroinflammation mechanisms, namely kinase inhibition and complement inhibition, as well as the integrated stress response of the motor neuron. There are also investigational products targeting oxidative stress, endoplasmic reticular stress, and nuclear pore activity optimization. This interview took place at the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Annual Meeting 2024 in Denver, CO.
