ECTRIMS 2023 | Benefits of physical activity and exercise in MS management

Ulrik Dalgas, PhD, Aarhus University, Aarhus, Denmark, discusses the significance of physical activity and exercise in multiple sclerosis (MS) management. Exercise can not only treat various symptoms in individuals with MS but also potentially modify the course of the disease. Dr Dalgas emphasizes the need to determine the optimal use of this simple intervention in the daily routine of people with MS. Recently, there has been a significant shift in understanding exercise’s impact on MS, as it was previously believed to worsen the disease. Now, it is known that exercise can actually help reduce chronic fatigue levels in individuals with MS. This interview took place at the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS) Congress 2023 in Milan, Italy.
