ESOC 2024 | Improving stroke guideline use through translation and local interpretations

Terence Quinn, MD, MRCP, MBCHB (hons), University of Glasgow, Glasgow, UK discusses the European Stroke Organisation (ESO) guideline board’s efforts to provide high-quality evidence to clinicians worldwide and enhance the guidelines’ visibility through promotion and translation into native languages. National societies will often produce their own guidelines specific to their local context, which has led to a duplication of effort in the past. To address this, ESO have created a standard operating procedure for translation of the guidelines, as well as developing a process for sharing of guideline development work with other guideline producers, facilitating context-specific interpretations. This interview took place at the 10th European Stroke Organisation Conference (ESOC) 2024 in Basel, Switzerland.
