ESOC 2024 | Tailored digital health support and goal-setting for stroke recovery at home

Dominique Cadilhac, PhD, MPH, BN, RN, Monash University & Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, Melbourne, Australia, gives updates on the ReCAPS (Recovery-focused Community Support to Avoid Readmissions and Improve Participation after Stroke) study. The study looked at how patients can be supported at home following a stroke using tailored digital health support and goal-setting. Both sets of participants set goals for their recovery journey for a 12-week period, however only the intervention group received an eHealth package tailored to their goals. Preliminary findings suggest differences in unmet needs based on gender and age, which decrease over time but still persist. Dr Cadilhac also explores the challenges of scaling such interventions for broader real-world application. This interview took place at the 10th European Stroke Organisation Conference (ESOC) 2024 in Basel, Switzerland.
