Joanna M Wardlaw, CBE, MD, FCRP, FRSE, FMedSci, from University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Scotland, UK, shares her thoughts on the cognitive impacts of stroke, emphasizing that vascular cognitive impairment is the second most common cause of cognitive impairment and dementia. In patients who have suffered mild strokes, it is often cognitive outcomes that significantly alter the patient’s quality of life. Prof. Wardlaw expresses her belief in the importance of conducting more research focused on the cognitive outcomes of stroke. This interview was conducted at the 10th European Stroke Organisation Conference (ESOC) 2024 in Basel, Switzerland.
