Mitzi Joi Williams, MD, Joi Life Wellness Group, Smyrna, GA, shares considerations and strategies to help overcome cultural factors and perceptions from patients and families about multiple sclerosis (MS) care to avoid delayed diagnosis or inadequate treatment. Recent research shows that the African-American and Hispanic-American MS populations are more affected than historically thought and may have different disease courses. It is also essential to be aware of personal bias, find ways to reduce it, and provide resources or increase health equity and access to patients. This interview took place at the American Academy of Neurology Annual Meeting 2023 in Boston, MA.
