EAN 2021 | Connection between OSA and cerebrovascular disease
James Stevens, MD, FAAN, Fort Wayne Neurological Center, Fort Wayne, IN, discusses the connection between obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and cerebrovascular disease. OSA is linked to several stroke risk factors, such as increased risk of high blood pressure and atrial fibrillation. However, past studies investigating treatment for OSA have not shown a decrease in the incidence of cerebrovascular disease. Dr Stevens discusses how trials for endovascular treatment of acute stroke could provide the answer. This interview took place during the European Academy of Neurology 2021 congress.
