Victor McConvey, RN, MACN, Parkinson’s Victoria, Victoria, Australia, discusses how diversity, cultural factors, and belief systems intersect with palliative care for Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders. Healthcare professionals need to be aware of patients’ belief systems, culture, and sexuality and how these factors can influence their care. Mr McConvey acknowledges that clinicians cannot “”fix”” these intersections but highlights the significance of incorporating them into the care provided. The socioeconomic environment and healthcare infrastructure of different countries also impact the delivery of services. This interview took place at the 2023 International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders in Copenhagen, Denmark.
