AAN 2023 | Clinical approaches to evaluate circadian rhythm sleep disorders

Alberto Ramos, MD, FAAN, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Miami, FL, discusses the approaches to evaluating sleep and circadian rhythm disorders in the clinic. In the diagnosis of sleep and circadian rhythm disorders, a detailed patient history is essential to understand the patient’s sleeping patterns. Polysomnography or wearables are also used to assess sleep and circadian rhythm disorders. The main challenges in diagnosing and managing sleep disorders include understanding how sleep disorders affect someone’s function, daily living, and other medical conditions. Access to sleep centers and treatments are also challenges. This interview took place at the American Academy of Neurology Annual Meeting 2023 in Boston, MA.
