CONy 2020 | Managing diffusion weighted imaging negative stroke patients

Andrew Demchuk, MD, FRCPC, Hotchkiss Brain Institute, University of Calgary, Calgary, Canada, discusses the need for more data to manage diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) negative patients. Patients who are DWI negative have benign pathology, however, they can still have diffusion lesions in the brain. Imaging is very influential in changing the understanding of a patient’s disease, as is described in the DOUBT study. However, more data is needed to understand these atypical strokes. This interview took place during the Virtual World Congress on Controversies in Neurology (CONy) 2020.
