ESOC 2024 | Collecting evidence on delayed reperfusion after thrombectomy

Adnan Mujanovic, MD, from Inselspital, Bern University Hospital, Switzerland, outlines the challenges of collecting data on delayed reperfusion, noting that imaging does not typically occur in centers 24-hours post-intervention. There are known factors which impact the likelihood of complete delayed reperfusion, such as better collaterals and a lower number of thrombectomy passes. In his recent pooled analysis, intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) was shown to impact the occurrence of complete delayed reperfusion. However, when data were stratified by lytic use, this effect was only preserved in groups administered tenecteplase. This interview took place at the 10th European Stroke Organisation Conference (ESOC) 2024 in Basel, Switzerland.
