ISC 2024 | Elevating the role of nurses in improving stroke systems of care

Anne W Alexandrov, PhD, RN, CCRN, ANVP-BC, NVRN-BC, FAAN, University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis, TN, shines a light on the pivotal role nurses play in enhancing stroke systems of care. Prof. Alexandrov explores the often-overlooked contributions of nurses and the urgent need to invest resources in upskilling them. The medical community, including physicians and manufacturing companies, shares the responsibility to support and resource nurses for optimal patient outcomes, as they constitute the backbone of patient well-being. The implementation of advanced practice nursing, especially in stroke care, is rapidly expanding as nurses are taking on increasingly critical roles. To support this evolution, essential resources are needed to enhance nursing capabilities. This interview took place during the International Stroke Conference 2024 in Phoenix, AZ.
