EAN 2023 | Monitoring of Parkinson’s disease motor symptoms using a wearable device

Angelo Antonini, MD, PhD, University of Padua, Padua, Italy, discusses the innovative PDMonitor® device for monitoring patients’ Parkinson’s disease-related motor symptoms. Developed for continuously monitoring Parkinson’s disease symptoms, this device offers valuable daily feedback on a patient’s status. Its key advantage lies in the five sensors, allowing for the measurement of all four limbs and gait and balance. Consequently, it offers a comprehensive report on the patient’s physical condition. Importantly, healthcare professionals can utilize this information to adjust medication, pinpointing the optimal treatment times throughout the day. The PDMonitor® has the potential to be a game-changer, enhancing patient care and providing valuable insights for healthcare providers. This interview took place at the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) 2023 Congress in Budapest, Hungary.
