AD/PD 2021 | Advantages of qGRE MRI for early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease

Quantitative Gradient Recalled Echo (qGRE) MRI is able to detect in vivo neuronal loss before detectable atrophy, which is essential for early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease. Satya VVN Kothapalli, PhD, Washington University in St. Louis, St. Louis, MO, outlines some of the advantages of this technique. Dr Kothapalli highlights how qGRE MRI does not require contrast, can be performed several times, and the scanning time is only 6 minutes. This technique can potentially be a game-changer for the early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease. This interview took place during the AD/PD™ 2021 conference.
