Bruce I. Ovbiagele, MD, MSc, FAAN, University of California, San Francisco, CA, shares tips for developing as a leader in neurology. To become leaders, neurologists need to identify their leadership purpose, their passion, as well as what they have struggled with the most that they could help others with. It is, however, important that neurologists lead in areas that are a priority for their institution or department – it is better to start local and then go global. Finally, it is essential that upcoming neurologists see themselves as leaders, either research or education leaders, as that mindset holds them accountable to and for others and provides them with a broader mission and vision. This interview took place at the American Academy of Neurology Annual Meeting 2023 in Boston, MA.
