Subarachnoid hemorrhage is the least frequent cause of stroke. So, unfortunately, it’s also the one that has the highest mortality. And time is brain also in subarachnoid hemorrhage. So, as we build the stroke care systems for treating acute ischemic stroke, for thrombolysis and for thrombectomy, we have to do the same thing for subarachnoid hemorrhage. So, as we build the stroke care systems for treating acute ischemic stroke, for thrombolysis and for thrombectomy, we have to do the same thing for subarachnoid hemorrhage. So treating the aneurysm in the first 24 hours is really important. And unfortunately, especially in middle-income countries and low-income countries, we still have to do a lot to build those systems of care, to make sure that we recognize patients that arrive with symptoms like headaches at primary hospitals so that they can be transferred to secondary and tertiary hospitals that have access to treatment of the aneurysm. So treating subarachnoid hemorrhage does require that you are at a comprehensive center because you need ICU, you need neurosurgery or embolization techniques available. So the systems of care have to be very well organized so to make sure that you don’t lose time in subarachnoid hemorrhages as well.
