Samson Khachatryan, MD, PhD, National Institute of Health of Armenia, Yerevan, Armenia, discusses the widespread prevalence of restless legs syndrome (RLS) in Western countries, highlighting its impact on sleep and overall quality of life. Dr Khachatryan explains that treatments for RLS, such as dopaminergic drugs, gabapentinoids, and iron therapy, are being refined as research advances, though the precise pathophysiology of the disorder remains unclear. Additionally, updates to RLS guidelines are underway in Europe and the United States to incorporate the most recent findings.
