In this video, Emilio Portaccio, MD, University of Florence, Florence, Italy, outlines the two ways disability accrual occurs in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) – relapse-associated worsening (RAW) and progression independent from relapse activity (PIRA). He highlights how the knowledge around these concepts has changed with new research. This interview took place at the 40th Congress of the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS 2024) in Copenhagen, Denmark.
