In this interview, Emilio Portaccio, MD, University of Florence, Florence, Italy, briefly discusses how the understanding of the disease course in multiple sclerosis (MS) is changing as more knowledge is acquired about the impacts of relapse-associated worsening (RAW) and progression independent from relapse activity (PIRA) on disability accrual in patients. This interview took place at the 40th Congress of the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS 2024) in Copenhagen, Denmark.
