CONy 2024 | Should minimally invasive surgery be routinely discussed in ICH?

Robert Mikulik, PhD, St Anne’s Hospital, Brno, Czech Republic, shares his thoughts on the routine discussion of minimally invasive neurosurgery for intracererbal hemorrhage (ICH), a topic which was the focus of a CONy 2024 debate. The ENRICH trial, presented at ESOC 2023, provided the first evidence that surgical treatment of spontaneous supratentorial ICH improved functional outcomes, compared to medical management alone. The data will help to establish a new standard of care for eligible patients with ICH. As these data come from a single trial of 300 patients, testing one device, some uncertainty remains about the broad applicability of these findings. This interview took place at the 18th Annual Congress on Controversies in Neurology (CONy 2024) in London, UK.
