ISC 2024 | Elevating CADASIL awareness among HCPs

Elisa Ferrante, PhD, National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD, discusses the pressing need to raise awareness and educate healthcare professionals about CADASIL, a rare and underdiagnosed genetic condition. It is essential to include CADASIL discussions in prominent medical conferences like the International Stroke Conference (ISC) to heighten awareness. This will enable healthcare professionals to identify CADASIL symptoms, prompting NOTCH3 testing for early diagnosis. Dr Ferrante emphasizes the importance of advocacy groups like ‘cureCADASIL’ in sustaining efforts to raise awareness and support those affected by this devastating disease.
