Igor Koralnik, MD, FAAN, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago, IL, discusses his presentation on immune response and vaccines against SARS-CoV2 presented at the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) 2021 Annual Meeting. He highlights the study aims to understand the long-term symptoms through investigation of T-cell response against SARS-CoV-2 proteins. Dr Koralnik explains the causes of false-negative results on serological tests, advocating for the development of a gold standard diagnostic test sensitive to mild symptoms cases. Finally, he gives an overview of the vaccines available concluding that they are still protective against the variants and against re-infections.
