Ronen Leker, MD, Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical Center, Jerusalem, Israel, shares guidance for the treatment of patients with antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) and cerebral sinus venous thrombosis (CSVT), highlighting the importance of using vitamin K antagonists (VKAs) instead of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs). Prof. Leker emphasizes that while DOACs may be a good alternative to VKAs in some patients with CSVT, they are not suitable for patients with APS due to the increased risk of arterial thrombotic events associated with DOACs. This interview took place at the 18th World Stroke Congress (WSC) in Seoul, Korea.
