WSC 2026 | What is settled about anticoagulation timing after AIS, and which subgroups remain in the grey zone?

Urs Fischer, MD, Inselspital, Bern University Hospital, Bern, Switzerland, shares insights from a meta-analysis of the ELAN (NCT03148457), TIMING (NCT02961348), OPTIMAS (NCT03759938) and START (NCT03021928) trials exploring the optimal timing of anticoagulation initiation after ischemic stroke. Prof. Fischer then speaks about subgroups that are still in the grey zone, including patients with relevant hemorrhagic transformation and those with massive ischemic stroke. This interview took place at the 18th World Stroke Congress (WSC) in Seoul, Korea.
