MDS 2023 | The regulatory landscape for cell-based treatments in movement disorders

Cindy Towns, MBChB, PhD, Wellington Hospital, Wellington, New Zealand, discusses the laws, guidelines, and policies regulating cell-based treatments for movement disorders. Different countries have their own guidelines, but there is an International committee on stem cell research that has produced a comprehensive guideline. This guideline highlights the importance of professional clinical practice and ethics, particularly concerning the unproven commercialization of stem cell products. This interview took place at the 2023 International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders in Copenhagen, Denmark.
