CONy 2020 | Studying deep brain stimulation: developing portable devices for rodents

Abdelhamid Benazzouz, PhD, Bordeaux University, Bordeaux, France, discusses the development of portable deep brain stimulation (DBS) devices for rodents and non-human primates. In order to further understand the mechanisms behind DBS in humans, the treatment needs to be replicated in animal models. The development of the portable DBS device enables the animals to be studied in their cages without the restriction of cables. This interview took place during the Virtual World Congress on Controversies in Neurology (CONy) 2020.
