Valeria Caso, MD, PhD, FESO, Santa Maria della Misericordia Hospital, University of Perugia, Perugia, Italy, discusses the combination of novel neuroprotection agents with reperfusion investigated by recent studies in the treatment of ischemic stroke. Prof. Caso also highlights the promising results demonstrated by sphenopalatine ganglion stimulation—a neuromodulation technique—in the treatment of ischemic stroke.
