EAN 2023 | Spider MS: predictive modeling for individualized multiple sclerosis prognostication

Jaume Sastre-Garriga, MD, PhD, Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, Barcelona, Spain, provides insights into the Spider MS study, which aims to bridge the gap between clinical trials and real-life scenarios by applying predictive models that incorporate dynamic variables to forecast outcomes in multiple sclerosis (MS). Dr Sastre-Garriga emphasizes the significance of using progression independent of relapse activity (PIRA) as a key outcome measure, as well as second relapse, relapse associated worsening, and confirmed and sustained disability accumulation (CSDA). The study aims to individualize prognosis and enhance our understanding of MS progression. This interview took place at the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) 2023 Congress in Budapest, Hungary.
