ESOC 2023 | The benefits of utilizing AI to identify stroke cases during emergency telephone calls

Jonathan Wenstrup, MD PhD Candidate, Herlev Hospital, Herlev, Denmark, discusses the use of a deep-learning based tool to identify patients experiencing a stroke during emergency phone calls. Dr Wenstrup elaborates on how it will allow the patient to be accurately diagnosed and brought to hospital early, increasing the likelihood of better prognosis and treatment response. There is also discussion on the extrapolation of this type of AI to the identification of other acute diseases which require fast treatment response. This interview took place during the European Stroke Organisation Conference (ESOC) in Munich, Germany.
