MDS 2021 | Long term impact of COVID-19 on the nervous system

Hadi Manji, MA, MB Bchir, MD, FRCP, National Hospital for Neurology, UCLH Foundation Trust, London, UK, shares the latest on long-term neurological manifestations of COVID-19. Evidence from large-scale collaborative studies and longer-term follow-up of patients is starting to reveal cases of ‘long COVID’ presenting with neurological symptoms for months after initial viral infection. Dr Manji highlights the need for investigations into the mechanisms behind these presentations, which may additionally address unanswered questions about other post-viral syndromes. This interview took place during the 2021 International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders.
