AAN 2021 | The importance of visual outcomes in neurological diseases

Steven Galetta, MD, FAAN, NYU Langone Medical Center, New York, NY, discusses the importance of visual outcomes in neurological diseases and techniques available to neurologists. Specifically, Dr Galetta talks about tools to examine vision, such as low contrast acuity tests, optical coherence tomography (OCT), non-mydriatic photos, and visual performance measurements, which can help identify hidden visual disabilities. Moreover, Dr Galetta emphasizes that baseline visual function may predict future disability and help make therapeutic decisions for a specific patient. This interview took place during the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) 2021 Annual Meeting.
