AD/PD 2022 | AD/PD highlights: α-synuclein PET tracer

Tiago Outeiro, PhD, University Medical Center Göttingen, Göttingen, Germany, shares his highlights from this year’s AD/PD Conference. Biomarkers were a prominent theme discussed at the meeting, with several sessions on fluid and imaging biomarkers. One of the most exciting updates was the data presented on the development of a molecule – a positron emission tomography (PET) tracer- able to detect α-synuclein in the living human brain. Results presented reveal significant progress in the quest to provide a diagnostic tool for α-synucleinopathies such as multiple system atrophy (MSA) and Parkinson’s disease. This interview took place at the AD/PD™ 2022 Conference in Barcelona, Spain.
