Martina Bocchetta, PhD, University College London, London, UK, talks on the importance of subcortical structures in the pathophysiology of frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Research over the last decades has shown that not only the cortical regions are affected in FTD but also many subcortical regions. These structures, although neglected, are extremely important as they play essential roles in the cerebral network. Additionally, subcortical regions are affected differently across the FTD disorders and show evident early changes in the disease process. This interview was conducted during the virtual 2021 World Congress on Controversies in Neurology (CONy).
