For restless legs syndrome there are international guidelines by the International Restless Legs Syndrome Study Group which are still current but there are also more recent guidelines by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine published a few months ago and the main change there is that because of the augmentation which is this paradoxical reaction to treatment, mainly dopaminergic treatment, there is for the first time a conditional recommendation against the use of levodopa and also dopaminergic agents which still can be used if patients put more relevance into the short-term effect of medication compared to the long term. And this is because of the risk of augmentation which is really high and then it’s really difficult to treat. And other news are also conditional recommendation for dipyridamole and also for the peroneal nerve stimulation which are new treatments let’s say based on available studies but that is a new indication for RLS.
