Amy Guzik, MD, Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Winston Salem, NC, discusses the use of telemedicine in stroke care, particularly in the acute stroke evaluation. Telestroke allows a quick and efficient care to patients in the acute stroke phase. Additionally, with teleneurology physicians can help patients with their needs in the community after stroke, including outpatient physical therapy and appointments for spasticity clinics.
