Sleep Europe 2024 | The current approaches to managing pediatric sleep disturbances

Karen Spruyt, PhD, Université Paris Cité, INSERM, NeuroDiderot, Paris, France, examines the current approaches and challenges in managing sleep disorders in children. She highlights the absence of FDA-approved sleep medications for the pediatric population, leading to the trial-and-error use of melatonin and other hypnotic or sedative agents. Dr Spruyt also highlights the potential of non-pharmacological solutions and stresses the importance of involving specialized teams to tailor treatment strategies to the unique needs of each patient population. This interview took place at the Sleep Europe 2024 congress in Seville, Spain.
