EAN 2024 | Advance care planning in epilepsy

Reetta Kälviäinen, MD, PhD, University of Eastern Finland, Kuopio University Hospital, Kuopio, Finland, discusses approaches to advance care planning (ACP) in epilepsy. ACP should focus on holistic care that considers both the seizure symptoms and non-seizure symptoms, including psychiatric conditions and co-morbidities associated with epilepsy. Individualized treatment goals for the management of status epilepticus is particularly important to consider in advance, given its severity and emergent nature. This interview took place at the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) Annual Meeting 2024 in Helsinki, Finland.
