ESOC 2024 | ESOC 2024 highlights: TEMPO2, ATTENTION-IA, & SWITCH

Diana Aguiar de Sousa, MD, PhD, Lisbon Central University Hospital & University of Lisbon, Lisbon, Portugal, discusses the wide range of high-quality research presented at ESOC 2024. She highlights the TEMPO2 trial, which showed that tenecteplase was not superior to standard antiplatelet treatment in minor ischemic stroke with confirmed vessel occlusion. Prof. Aguiar de Sousa also mentions the ATTENTION-IA trial, exploring the use of intra-arterial tenecteplase post-endovascular therapy for posterior circulation stroke, and the landmark SWITCH trial, which provided valuable insights into the use of decompressive craniectomy for severe deep brain hemorrhages, showing reduced mortality compared to medical management alone.
