AAN 2024 | Fraud in Alzheimer’s disease clinical research

Samuel Dickson, PhD, Pentara Corporation, Millcreek, UT, discusses the growing issue of fraud at clinical trial sites, which significantly affects the integrity of studies, particularly in Alzheimer’s disease research. Manipulation of documents and images is a growing concern in the scientific community, undermining progress in treating the disease. Dr Dickson explains that schemes have come to light involving the falsification and fabrication of clinical trial data for profit, practices which are harming patients and sponsors. He advocates for increased publicity and stricter measures to combat these fraudulent activities, suggesting that this could help deter future incidents. This interview took place at the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Annual Meeting 2024 in Denver, CO.
