AHS 2024 | Potential of delta opioid receptors as a target for migraine

Amynah Pradhan, PhD, Washington University in St. Louis, St. Louis, MO, provides insights about δ-opioid receptors (DOR) as a therapeutic target for migraine, having been shown in pre-clinical models to have an anti-migraine-like effect. They have also been found to have a potential anti-depressant effect, which holds promise considering the link between headache and mood disorders. Unlike μ-opioid receptors, which DORs are related to, they have low abuse liability. This interview took place at the American Headache Society (AHS) Annual Meeting 2024 in San Diego, CA.
