Research involving children and adolescents is, in some aspects, more challenging than research with adults. Kumaran Deiva, MD, PhD, Faculty of Medicine Paris Sud, Paris, France, gives an overview of the challenges with research on rare neurological disorders in children. Studying rare diseases poses considerable challenges because the patient populations are limited. Therefore, collaborative research is key to overcoming those challenges. An additional difficulty is the availability of healthy children to be part of the control groups. This interview took place at the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) 2022 Congress in Vienna, Austria.
