Aleksander Videnovic, MD, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, explains the importance of circadian signaling as a potential therapeutic target in neurodegenerative disease. According to Dr Videnovic, research must first focus on characterizing the neuropathological basis of disruption to circadian outputs, in particular the role of ocular and retinal functions, to make way for potentially highly effective and non-invasive treatments such as light therapy. This interview took place during the World Sleep Congress 2022 in Rome, Italy.
