World Sleep 2022 | Current and future therapeutic approaches for RLS

Claudia Trenkwalder, MD, University Medical Center of Göttingen, Göttingen, Germany, discusses current and future treatment approaches for restless legs syndrome (RLS). Prof. Trenkwalder draws focus on the hope for future drugs to target the adenosine system or other transmitter systems, and the importance of monitoring ferritin and transferrin levels in patients when treating RLS. Clinical trials evaluating drugs acting on pathways other than the dopaminergic system are eagerly awaited. This interview took place during the World Sleep Congress 2022 in Rome, Italy.
