Mar Tintoré, MD, PhD, Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, Barcelona, Spain, highlights key areas of research in the field of multiple sclerosis (MS). To begin with, it is essential to find efficient ways to treat inflammation in the early stages of the disease. In addition, research should be conducted on biomarkers to detect and monitor silent progression. Moreover, it is important to find techniques to measure cognitive reserve, as well as define ways to maintain cognitive reserve, including exercise, mental stimulation, rehabilitation, and treating depression. Treatments for progression and neurodegeneration should also be developed. This interview took place during the XXV World Congress of Neurology.
