Sheila Martins, MD, PhD, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, Brazil, discusses the most significant challenges when implementing reperfusion therapies in low- and middle-income settings and shares recommendations to overcome those difficulties. The World Stroke Organization (WSO) created a road map to delivering quality stroke care, which is a resource that provides the framework for the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of stroke services globally. Prof. Martins reveals the various steps, including understanding the structure of the hospital, creating a multi-disciplinary stroke team, organizing the stroke pathway in the hospital, and educating the population to recognize stroke signs.
