Sleep Europe 2026 | Managing augmentation in RLS: should dopaminergic treatment be stopped?

Ambra Stefani, MD, PhD, Medical University of Innsbruck, Innsbruck, Austria, shares guidance for managing augmentation in patients with restless legs syndrome (RLS) who are receiving dopaminergic therapies. Dr Stefani notes that, while there are no official international guidelines, she aims to reduce or switch medications when possible, and if not, keeps the dose as low as possible while monitoring the patient over time. This interview took place at Sleep Europe 2026, which was held in Maastricht, Netherlands.
